Tablets are one of the devices that many people use every day. Tablets offer amazing function and portability. They are like a cross between a computer and a smartphone, giving you the best of both worlds. For many people, life without their tablet is unimaginable.

When it comes to shopping for a tablet, the choices are pretty much endless. Almost every manufacturer of computers and smartphones also produces tablets. There are three main operating systems for tablets. If you know anything about technology, it won't surprise you to know these are Windows, Android and iOS. IOS is from Apple, while Android comes from Google.

The operating system your tablet uses has an effect on almost every aspect of how the tablet functions. That is why it is important for you to completely understand each operating system and what it has to offer. You then need to look at each tablet available with that operating system to narrow your choices down.

It can be a long process to shop for a tablet if you really want to find the best deal and get the most value out of your purchase. To help you, we have compiled a review of the top five Windows tablets currently available. Before we get to the reviews, though, here's some more information you need to know about buying a Windows tablet.

How We Reviewed the Windows Tablets

We took care to review each tablet and sort through all the Windows tablets on the market to only bring you the best. We wanted to provide an unbiased review, so we looked at many different aspects of each tablet. We considered reviews from experts and consumer reviews, along with looking at teach tablet ourselves to come to the decision whether to include them on our list or not.

We want you to trust completely in the information we provide. We spent time to ensure accuracy and honesty in each review and hope that you can use the information we provide to find the right Windows tablet to suit your needs.

Overall Price Range of Windows Tablets

The tablets we reviewed for our list range from $750 to $1,300. You will find the newer the tablet, the more it costs. The ones on the higher end are the newer tablets on our list. However, older tablets should not be discredited. Often companies make many versions of a tablet. Each newer version may be tweaked to take away functions or features users complained about or to add in new technology. Sometimes manufacturers add in new features that users wish they had left out, so sometimes an older version may be the best version.

Of course, the price of a tablet is also determined by a few other factors. The size of the screen plays a role as bigger screens cost more. The processor speed and memory also will increase the price the faster and larger they are. When considering price, keep in mind that you also will pay for larger, more-recognized brand names simply due to branding. People are wiling to pay more for a trusted name, so those manufacturers charge more for their products. Keep all of this in mind as you read over our reviews and choose your top Windows tablet.

The Verdict

Windows tablets are nice because they offer a whole new computing power to a tablet device. Unlike other options that are primarily set up for downloading apps and browsing the web, a Windows tablet lets you get more use from your tablet, enabling it to be used like a laptop, just a more portable version. Of course, the biggest downside is that the Windows app store is lacking when compared to Android and iOS. However, if you want a more functional tablet, then a Windows-based one is probably the best choice for you.

Looking over the ones on our list, we can't really name the best one because the best depends on what you want. We felt the best 2-in-1 was the Samsung 2018 Galaxy Book because it offered the most functionality and had the highest user ratings. However, if you judge best by price, then we thought the best value was the Microsoft Surface 3 with a reasonable price and fairly good reviews. If gaming is more your thing, then you cannot go wrong with the Lanruo GPD WIN 2 Mini, which was literally built for gaming. The bottom line is that the best tablet is a subjective thing depending on what you want, but we presented you with the best five options we could find, so choose one and you can't go wrong.
