Samsung Electronics SM-T830NZKAXAR Galaxy Tab S4, 10.5", Black
  • DeX: Transform your tablet into a PC
  • S Pen included. Imagination unlocked.
  • With far-field mics, your tablet listens and responds to your voice when your tablet is out of reach.

Key Features

The newest Galaxy tablet on the list, the Galaxy Tab S4 is Samsung’s best overall tablet to date. It has an incredibly slim and sleek design with metal sides and a glass back. It feels truly like a quality tablet, but the glass does make it a little slippery.

You won’t find a fingerprint sensor but facial recognition software instead. The screen is sharp and crisp, and it has bright and vibrant colors. The keyboard and stylus are excellent additions, though the keyboard must be purchased separately. The tablet boasts a powerful Android processor, but the chip is a little older than you would expect.

Probably one of the S4’s strongest features is the ability to go into DeX mode. This allows you to multitask across multiple screens at the same time. Many tablets, including the iPad Pro, have attempted to integrate a desktop experience into a tablet and failed. The S4 did not fail. It beautifully and seamlessly transitions into a desktop computer at one touch or voice command.

Pros

  •  Sleek design
  • Sharp display
  • Stylus included
  • DeX mode

Cons

  • Needs more RAM for the price
  • Expensive keyboard
  • Older chip
  • Average camera

Where to Buy

This model is available to plenty of online stores like Amazon.

Key Features

The S3 and S4 have a lot in common, but they also have some differences. The S3 has a slightly smaller screen and resolution, less storage, and a shorter battery life. It does attempt to have a multitasking mode, though it isn’t as good as the S4’s DeX mode.

The S3 has the same great design as the S4 and a bright screen with HDR support. It comes with the S-Pen and, unlike the S4, support fingerprint scan unlocking. The tablet sports great speed and excellent performance, and with the recent release of the S4, you can find it at a reasonable price.

Pros

  •  Excellent design
  • Stunning screen
  • HDR support
  • DeX mode

Cons

  • Keyboard costs extra
  • Expensive keyboard
  • Mediocre camera

  • Samsung Flow connects the Galaxy Book and your Samsung smartphone with a touch. Share files wirelessly, even without...

Key Features

The Galaxy Book is Samsung’s best hybrid option. It is designed to be both tablet and laptop at the same time. Competing with the likes of the Microsoft Surface models, the Galaxy Book is an incredible value. It comes with both a keyboard and a stylus. You can choose between the 10-inch model and the 12-inch model, and both screens are stunning.

Though it’s a Windows 10 tablet, it seems more like an Android tablet at times. The included keyboard feels and types great, but it’s made out of plastic, so its durability is in question. Like the Surface, the Galaxy Book doesn’t have great lap-ability and works best when on a flat surface. Nevertheless, it runs smoothly and has a reliable, even performance as long as you don’t have several different apps open at once. It also has an 11-hour battery life.

Pros

  •  Amazing screen
  • Included accessories
  • Great batteryt

Cons

  • Cheap keyboard
  • Mediocre multitasking
  • Lackluster lap-ability

Where to Buy

You can grab a brand new or a refurbished 10-inch model from Amazon. Best Buy also sells this product.

Key Features

The Galaxy Tab A 10.1 is a great tablet for those who aren’t necessarily looking for a 2-in-1. This is an affordable choice and a decent tablet. It’s slightly on the bulky side, but this is due to the battery, which is excellent, by the way. It comes with either 2GB RAM or 3GB RAM, and it has expandable storage via a microSD card.

The display is pretty good for the price, with its PPI being only 40 less than that of the iPad Pro. The 3GB model comes with the S-Pen, which is a huge plus, and the speakers are nice and loud. While the performance is great, it gets sluggish and buggy when trying to do multiple things at once or run powerful apps.

Pros

  •  Affordable
  • Great battery life
  • Decent display
  • 3GB model comes with S-Pen

Cons

  • Needs more RAM for the price
  • Moderate performance
  • Average cameras

Where to Buy

This is available on Amazon for 2GB, with the 3GB and S-Pen.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8"; 16 GB Wifi Tablet (Smoky Titanium)...
  • Android 5.0 Lollipop, 8-inch Display. Product Dimensions (inches) 8.20" x 5.43" x 0.29"
  • Samsung Quad Core Processor, 1.2 GHz
  • 16 GB Flash Memory, 1.5 GB RAM Memory

Key Features

The Tab A 8.0 is the tablet to get when on a tight budget. It’s small, simple, and inexpensive. The storage can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. It features an 8-inch screen and a slim, lightweight design that is comfortable to the touch. It doesn’t seem very durable, however, being made out of plastic materials.

This 8-inch tablet comes with Microsoft Office already installed, and the user interface is simple to navigate. It does have a very simplistic multitasking mode so that you can see more than one screen at a time. The battery life is good but nothing to be excited about. The performance is what you would expect from a budget-friendly tablet.

Pros

  •  Budget-friendly
  • Small and lightweight
  • Expandable storage

Cons

  • Cheaply made
  • OK performance
  • Average battery life

You can find one on Amazon.

Key Features

Another 2-in-1 choice, the Tab Pro S isn’t quite as good as the Galaxy Book, but it is a little cheaper. It comes with a keyboard and is incredibly slim in design. It sports an AMOLED screen with an amazing display. Its thin design makes it very portable to take with you on the go.

The keyboard is comfortable to type on, but loud. It also only allows for the screen to be placed in two different angles, so it isn’t very comfortable when sitting on your lap. The case wraps around the entire tablet, front and back. It runs an Intel Core m3 processor, making the performance just OK. The battery, however, will last you all day, which is great.

Pros

  •  More affordable 2-in-1
  • Extremely thin
  • Incredible display
  • Comes with keyboard
  • Great battery life

Cons

  • Average performance
  • Keyboard case only has two screen angles
  • Keys are loud when typing

Samsung Galaxy Tab E 8" 16GB 4G LTE AT&T Unlocked Android 5.1.1...
  • PHONE FEATURE ONLY WORKS ON AT&T NETWORK. This tablet will function for data purposes with other compatible GSM...

Key Features

Another budget-friendly tablet, the Tab E combines both business and pleasure. It comes stocked with pre-installed apps for professionals to get their work done or perform presentations. It is capable of running several apps at once through its split screen mode but opening more than a few will slow the performance down. It runs a slightly older version of Android, so those used to the most updated OS may find it lagging.

The storage can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card, which will be necessary since it only comes with 8GB of internal storage. The display isn’t excellent, but it’s good enough to get the job done across its 9.6-inch screen. It has a 2MP front camera and an 8GB rear camera. Its design feels more reliable than Samsung’s cheaper tablets.

Pros

  •  Slim design
  • Lackluster display
  • Inexpensive

Cons

  • Runs on Android 4.4
  • Lackluster display
  • Average battery life

Where to Buy

Both Amazon and Best Buy have it for sale.

    The Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 is an upgrade over the Galaxy Tab S3 with an expanded 10.5-inch screen size and longer battery life, but it comes at a higher price and with a lofty promise to do so much more.

We really liked the idea behind Samsung Dex for its desktop interface when we first got the tablet in for review. Then we tried the non-touch-friendly UI and went hands on with the optional keyboard for several days.
